At Encompass Wellness LLC, we take a new, science-backed approach to recovery from chronic symptoms. Unlike traditional therapies, treatment is not focused on the body alone, but on the whole person.
We take a look at how the body, mind, emotions, and life and social factors are playing a role in activating and promoting chronic symptoms.
What the science SHOWS: pain is not all about the body
New research shows that the subconscious mind and nervous system, not the body, are the primary drivers of many chronic symptoms. When the mind is in a state of danger-protect, it activates the regions of the brain that are responsible for driving pain and other symptoms.
Factors such as life stressors, fear of the symptoms, unexpressed emotions, and high-alert habits are often the drivers of this danger-protect subconscious state. When these factors are resolved, the subconscious danger-protect mode is turned off, and symptoms resolve.

About Allison
Allison Andraski, Ph.D.
Dr. Allison Andraski, Ph.D., is a coach, consultant, scientist, and writer. She is trained in emotional awareness and expression, pain reprocessing, and grief work, and a Harvard-trained scientist in biomedical research. Allison also recently recovered from a decade long journey of chronic pain and illness. She experienced over 20 different chronic symptoms that ranged from body pains to headaches, fatigue, and brain fog. During this journey, Allison tried therapies, medications, injections, etc., but the biggest keys to her healing were discovering the new pain science (see more info above and on the COACHING and RESOURCE pages), learning to feel her emotions (see more on the EMOTIONS and GRIEF pages), and finding her true self along the way (stay tuned for Allison’s upcoming book!). Allison is passionate about helping others learn, feel, find, discover, and recover.
